PR Performance Fitness, a Silver-level sponsor of the Taste of Annandale, has become a neighborhood institution since it opened in its current location, at 4111 John Marr Drive in Annandale, by Rachel Martin and Pablo Amaya.
PR’s cadre of personal trainers offers specialized, individual coaching for all needs – to build up one’s strength, endurance, balance, cardio performance, flexibility, muscle tone, or any combination of those goals – for beginners of all ages through professional athletes. The studio also offers nutritional counseling, rehabilitation/injury prevention, and sports training.
Several group classes are available, too, including performance boot camp, “lose your belly with Beli (presented by trainer Belichi Ecoro), performance kickboxing, and performance stretching.
There’s always something new going on at PR. Most recently, the trainers collaborated with the Fairfax County Police Department to host a self-defense class. The session featured practical hands-on techniques to help people feel safe and secure, Martin says. PR hopes to have these sessions on a regular basis.
Another new feature at PR is sports performance training for kids and youths on soccer, hockey, baseball, football, and field hockey teams. The sessions – for individuals or whole teams – cover conditioning, nutrition, and how to train properly without getting hurt.
During the summer, PR hosted sports camps, including sessions for kids age 6-10 and another for ages 10-16.
At the Taste of Annandale, the PR staff will help runners with conditioning exercises before the 5K Race and will have a table throughout the festival offering functional movement screening, other health screenings, interactive games for kids, and prizes.
