The theme of this year’s community art project at the Taste of Annandale will be a collaborative painting with the theme: “Inside the Home.”
The Taste of Annandale festival is Sept. 20, at the Eileen Garnett Civic Space, 7200 Columbia Pike.
This is the second year that Community Art For Everyone (CAFE) is hosting an art project at the Taste of Annandale.
Last year’s project called upon festival-goers to decorate the outside of a home by adding denim strips to a frame structure.
This year, participants will use acrylic paints on a 12-foot by 9-foot canvas to illustrate what they would like to place in their “home.”
“‘Home’ is open to interpretation,” says CAFE President Hannah Joo. It could mean:
- The house where you and your family live,
- The inner space within yourself, or
- The shared home we build together as a community.

“The goal of the project is to foster connection, creativity, and a positive community culture,” Joo says. “By coming together to create art, participants will transform a blank canvas into a vibrant expression of community values, dreams, and hopes.”
Joo says, “The Inside the Home project encourages people of all ages to share their voices through art and reminds us that a thriving community starts with empathy, collaboration, and creativity.”
The art project will take place on the grassy knoll overlooking the fire station parking lot from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Taste of Annandale ends at 6 p.m.
