On your mark, get set, eat!

Who’s going to be the banh mi sandwich champ?

It could be you, if you compete in the Taste of Annandale’s first-ever Eating Contest.

The eating contest will take place on the stage at the Taste of Annandale at 1 p.m. The festival is this coming Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Eileen Garnett Civic Space, 7200 Columbia Pike.

This Eating Contest is all about speed, not quantity. The person who can wolf down a Vietnamese banh mi sandwich the fastest will win a prize.

The first-place winner will receive $100; the second-place finisher will get $50.

The Eating Contest is sponsored by Pho 72 at 1376 Park Road, NW, in Washington, D.C., and the Viet American Foundation.

Contestants will be asked to meet by the stage at 12:45 p.m.

Participants must be at least 18 years old; ID required.

No more than 12-15 people will be able to participate, so listen for the DJ’s announcement on how to enter. You can also fill print and fill out the form below and bring it to the Taste of Annandale.
