Everything you need to know about the Taste of Annandale

The Taste of Annandale is just two days away! Here’s everything you need to know to enjoy what’s sure to be a fun event for the whole family.

The Taste of Annandale is Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Eileen Garnett Civic Space, 7200 Columbia Pike, 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m. The event is free to attend.

Schedule – View the schedule of activities here.

Parking – Fairfax Connector is providing two shuttle buses from the parking lot at Annandale High School. The buses will stop in front of the school, 4700 Medford Drive, and on the corner of Columbia Pike and Tom Davis Drive.

Taste of Annandale 5K – The Taste of Annandale 5K will take place at Mason District Park, 6621 Columbia Pike, Annandale, starting at 9:30 a.m. The race starts at 9:30 a.m. The race is sponsored by RAMP Optimal Performance & Wellness. Prizes will be awarded to the winners, and all runners will get a T-shirt. Register here or onsite by 9 a.m.

Restrooms – Inside the Annandale Volunteer Fire Department’s social hall.

Volunteers – Sign up to volunteer here. We’re in desperate need of someone to manage the volunteers. Contact info@annandaletoday.com as soon as possible.

Live entertainment – The performance schedule includes a lion dance; selections from Annandale High School’s production of “Annie”; a karate demonstration; dances from Bolivia, Scotland, Korea, and Indonesia; a folk singer; International Dance students; an indie band; and a rock band. Game zone – The Annandale High School PTSA is hosting a Game Zone with carnival games and prizes.

“Animaldale” – There will be a petting zoo on the lawn area with barnyard animal friends from Squeals on Wheels.

Pet contest – Dress up your furry buddy for the Pet Parade and Costume Contest sponsored by local realtor Jamie DeSimone. Sign up in advance or register onsite at Jamie’s booth. There is no charge to participate.

Children’s programming – The ACCA Child Development Center is offering a full slate of outdoor activities for children, including characters from “Bluey” and “Paw Patrol,” percussionist Kofi Dennis from Wolf Trap, and hands-on STEAM activities.

Eating contest – The Taste of Annandale’s first-ever eating contest features bánh mì Vietnamese sandwiches. It’s all about speed, not quantity; whoever finishes first will win a prize. There is no charge to compete.

Beer sales – The beer vendor, Caboose Commons, will offer several types of brews.

Food – There will be 41 food vendors offering a wide range of cuisines from across the world.

Chili cook-off – The Mason Police Station and Annandale Volunteer Fire Department will vie for the “best chili” title. Attendees will vote for their favorite.

Community art project – Community Art for Everyone (CAFE) is hosting a collaborative art project created onsite by attendees.

Recycling – There will be white recycling bins scattered throughout the festival for water bottles and aluminum cans.

Photo contest – Annandale Today is sponsoring a photo contest. Photos must be taken at the Taste of Annandale. Pick up an entry form at the Annandale Today booth.

Vendors – There will be 57 vendor booths hosted by businesses, nonprofits, county agencies, and crafters. To the many people who reached out after the event was sold out, apply earlier next year.

VIPs – Among the elected leaders expected at the Taste of Annandale are U.S. Rep. James Walkinshaw, State Sen. Dave Marsden, Del. Vivian Watts, Mason Supervisor Andres Jimenez, and Braddock School Board member Rachna Sizemore Heizer.
