Musicians and Paw Patrol will entertain children

Percussionist and storyteller Kofi Dennis will delight children at the Taste of Annandale with a lively performance featuring djembe drumming from West Africa.

The children’s program will take place indoors at the ACCA Child Development Center (CDC) at 7200 Columbia Pike.

Dennis will perform at the CDC 11 a.m.-noon. A Master Teaching Artist with the Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning through the Arts, Dennis performs at libraries and schools throughout the region.

Musician, storyteller, and barn dance caller Slim Harrison, a Master Artist with the Wolf Trap Institute, will entertain the kids at the CDC, 12:30-1:30 p.m.

He plays jug band music on various instruments – including fiddle, dulcimer, and banjo – while getting the kids to join in.

Wolf Trap Master Teaching Artist Laura Schandelmeier will perform at the CDC 2:30-3:30 p.m. The multitalented Schandelmeier – choreographer, performer, and teacher – is the co-founder and co-artistic director of Dance Box Theater with her husband Stephen Clapp.

In between those performances, the CDC will host crafts and other activities for the children – while the Pet Patrol will periodically make its way through the crowd at the Taste of Annandale.
